Chapter 4 focused study guide
British Leisure, Food, Gardening and Pubs Study Guide
Study popular UK leisure activities, traditional food, gardening, pubs, television, radio and everyday social life.
Section 4.4
Leisure
Leisure in the UK includes sport, music, reading, gardening, visiting cultural sites and spending time outdoors. Television and radio remain important, while digital media have changed how people follow news and entertainment.
Pubs have a long social history, but they are only one kind of meeting place. Community centres, cafés, libraries, faith buildings, clubs and sports facilities also support local social life.
Outdoor access and conservation
Public footpaths, national parks and protected landscapes provide access to the countryside. Organisations including the National Trust, National Trust for Scotland and public heritage bodies help care for buildings, coast and countryside.
