How to find your nearest Life in the UK test centre

There are more than 30 official Life in the UK test centres across the UK. The most reliable way to find a current location is to start a search through the official GOV.UK booking service. You choose the centre during the booking process.

Centre locations and appointment availability can change, so a fixed list can quickly become inaccurate. Use the live official service to check the options available for your postcode and preferred date.

Use an official test centre

GOV.UK states that its online service is the only official government booking service. Training providers and practice-test websites are not necessarily authorised test centres.

What to compare before choosing a centre

  • Real travel time: check the route at the same time of day as your appointment, including connections, parking and walking time.
  • Appointment availability: a slightly more distant centre may offer a date that suits your preparation or immigration timeline better.
  • Reliability of the journey: consider traffic, rail disruption and alternative routes. Arriving late may mean you cannot take the test or receive a refund.
  • Accessibility: state any disability-related or special requirements during booking and check that the arrangements are confirmed.
  • The exact address: some centres may be in shared office buildings. Confirm the entrance, floor or reception instructions before travelling.

Before travelling to your test centre

  1. Recheck your confirmation

    Confirm the centre address, date, appointment time and check-in instructions. Do not rely on an old search result or a map pin saved before you booked.

  2. Plan to arrive early

    Build in extra time for delays and finding the entrance. The official refund policy says lateness is not normally a reason for a refund.

  3. Bring the same original ID

    Take the original identity document used for your booking. The personal details must match, and copies or screenshots are not accepted as substitutes.

  4. Attend alone

    Children and other family members cannot accompany you into the test, so arrange care or support outside the centre in advance.

Can you change your test centre?

You can manage a booking through the official service, but timing matters. Under the current policy, changing or cancelling within three days of the test normally means losing the fee. Check the latest cancellation and refund rules before making a change.
