Section 1.4
Taking the Life in the UK test
The official test has 24 questions and allows 45 minutes. A score of 75% is required, which means at least 18 correct answers. Questions are based on the official guide for new residents.
Booking safely
Start at GOV.UK and follow its official booking link. The current service explains the fee, accepted identification and test-centre rules. Avoid search advertisements or agents that charge extra for a booking that can be made through the official route.
- Use the identification accepted during booking when you attend the test.
- Enter personal details exactly as they appear on the identity record.
- Save the confirmation and check the centre, date and time.
- Request reasonable adjustments during the booking process if needed.
What this study guide can and cannot do
This website can help you learn facts and practise the question format. It cannot determine your immigration status, guarantee a pass or replace current Home Office instructions. Recheck GOV.UK shortly before booking and attending because administrative rules may change.
